Smallpox viruses are believed to have killed more people in history than any other infectious disease. English physician Edward Jenner created the first vaccine in 1796, the vaccine was against cowpox. Jenner infected an eight year old boy with cowpox, two months later he infected him with small pox, the disease, he was immune. A vaccine works slowly then exposes to the immune system to a less-threatening version of a pathogen and quickly takes away the pathogens harmful counterpart.

Similar-pathogen vaccine is the parent of smallpox. The cowpox virus it contains invades the cells and spreads to other cells in the body. Attenuated virus, measles, invades the body cells. Polio, the daughter of Killed vaccine, cell uses the cells within the tissue culture to produce copies. Formaldehyde was used to eliminate bacteria. Toxoid vaccine, includes tetanus, a diseased caused by toxins created by the bacteria Clostridium tetani. Hepatitis, subunt vaccine, the vaccine stimulates the immune system to attack the antigen. Naked-DNA, HIV, vaccines are being created to fight diseases such as AIDS. This began in 1995.

55,000 people die from rabies every year. That's one in every ten minutes. Bullet shaped viruses in the brain cause rabies. Mammals usually carry rabies. In Africa and Asia dogs are the leading carrier. Bats in Latin America carry the rabies. Here, in North America, dogs, raccoon's, skunks, and bats carry rabies. Rabies shots are not horrible, they have been altered and are now as painful as any other shot. They are given in the arm opposed to back in the day when they were given in the stomach. To prevent yourself from getting rabies, avoid wild and stray animals. Do not approach them and never touch bats. Symptoms of rabies include tingling, insomnia, salivation, breathing issues, heart issues, come, paralysis, and eventually death.

The drug, Acyclovir, and herpes are related in many ways. Acyclovir slows the growth and spread of herpes, lessens the symptoms of infection. It is used to treat infections caused by herpes; genital herpes, cold sores, shingles, and chicken pox.
